It is a diverse group of artists from all different media backgrounds, software preferences, and skill sets. We meet monthly to host creative learning sessions, brainstorm, show off work, network, catch up with friends, and much more.
Yes! Topher Welsh founded the group in 2010 with the first meeting based around the Adobe CS6 release. For years, the community was based on a specific Facebook group (fb.com/groups/aeseattle). While that page still exists, it was unfortunately compromised and overrun with spam accounts. We also dealt with the Covid Pandemic in 2020, which halted all group meetings. Now, the group is back and stronger than ever with a dedicated team bringing our beloved After Effects Seattle monthly meetings back to life.
Anyone! From current students to seasoned artists, regardless of what software you use or your current skill level, you are welcome here.
Yes, we have been the official After Effects Seattle User Group affiliated with Adobe for about 15 years now. We typically host our meetings at the Adobe office in Fremont.
We meet at the Adobe office in Fremont. Meetings generally happen the third Thursday of every month. Meetings start at 7pm, doors open at 6:30pm.
Meetings are always free. Entry into our prize raffle is also free, though you must be in attendance to win.
It is very much appreciated so we know how many people to expect for seating and food, but it is not strictly necessary.
There is some parking available on-site, and there are also metered lots close by.
Absolutely not. We started the group that way, but very quickly realized that AE user's skillsets span so many software packages and niches of design that it was silly to only have meeting based around After Effects. We host talks from amazing artists who employ a variety tools and techniques to make their work shine. We don't care what software you use. Everyone is welcome!
